July 4th Parade

Hello Parkside,

Currently, we have a July 4th Parade scheduled for Saturday, July 4th, at 10 am. However, we need volunteers for this to happen. Please read below.

In 2024, we had a July 4th Parade (the first in years), with a shorter route in anticipation of the heat, with some families and children walking. The July 4th Parade turnout was low. In comparison, our Easter Egg Hunt and National Night Out events have had much bigger turnouts and success vs the July 4th Parade.

In 2025, we had to cancel the July 4th Parade due to rain and flooding.

With this year's July 4th landing on a Saturday and Friday, July 3rd, being an off day for a lot of residents, there's a good chance residents may be out of town for the holiday or busy with their own plans, which could lead to another low turnout for the July 4th Parade.

We are looking for volunteers who want to participate in the July 4th Parade, to:

-Plan/manage the Parade -Create their desired parade route -Maintain safety on the road with traffic -Recruit residents to join the parade -Encourage residents to decorate their vehicles, bikes, and themselves in red, white, and blue colors -Recruit residents to pull up their lawn chairs along the parade route to wave at parade participants

We understand it's a fun holiday, on a weekend, and families may be busy with their own plans. That's okay.

Please email denise@psprop.net to volunteer. If no one volunteers by June 24, we are going to have to cancel the July 4th Parade due to lack of interest.
